Ok, a couple cycles on trails with these on now. They fit well, they are comfortable for pedaling and walking and they stay in place. Whilst on I haven't required their protection but ironically, on a ride I left them behind, I banged my right knee on a rock. Now I am not leaving them behind when I do forest trails or any technical riding.

Excellent fit, I don't even feel them when on trails or in the park. I don't even take them down while cruising home after a ride. They are not made for climbing. Back part is made of very thin material that rips very fast (few holes that look nasty).
