Fast and extra rigid: The E-Racing 4 DB wheelset from Fulcrum
In the development of the Rapid Red 5 DB, Fulcrum has brought together all the experience and technical know-how gained in the production of wheels for road bikes, and designed a model for surfaces other than asphalt. Unpaved roads, trails and dirt tracks require a wider inner channel - in this case 23 mm - with a low, extremely resistant 24 mm rim to absorb shocks and provide excellent riding comfort, whatever the stresses to which it is subjected. The tread pattern of the wheel allows the fitting of tyres between 30 and 46 mm with a wide range of settings that can be adjusted according to the type of road you ride on. The 24 straight-head spokes are supported by a solid aluminium hub, ideal for rough terrain and for the slightly higher weight of a touring bike. Get ready for your next journey: Your Rapid Red 5 DB wheels will be your loyal companion: comfortable and reliable, light and precise.

RDB™ RIM DYNAMIC BALANCE
The concept is simple and elegant: balance the weight of the gasket, with an item of similar weight placed on the exact opposite side. When making carbon bike rims, the pieces of carbon fabric are aligned in such a manner that the resulting rim is always balanced.
AFS-AXLE SYSTEM™
The Axial Fixing System™ is the solution developed by Fulcrum® to fix the disc brake to the hub. The constraint granted by the butt area of the release mechanism, greater than in familiar standard ones, makes it possible to obtain greater structural rigidity and therefore more precise and powerful braking.
WIDE RIM TECH
Fulcrum® has worked to create rims that are wider than before, about 4 mm or more than previously. This technical choice provides an ideal basis for 25/28mm tyres, the sizes currently popular. This ensures stability, excellent handling and superior comfort.
Asymmetric Rim
The asymmetry is designed to improve rim tension, balancing the forces from brakes and sprocket cassette.
2-WAY FIT™ Ready
The wheelset can be converted into a tubeless system. The conversion is only permitted for certain types of tyres. For more information, visit the Fulcrum website.
REINFORCED HEAD SPOKES
For the new E-Mtb Fulcrum range, only oversize spokes, with a specific reinforcement design on the heads, will be used: this makes it possible to have the best quality of response to stress both in terms of resistance and in terms of transfer of the propulsive power. The technical refinement does not stop here. Changes were made to the profile too, which in some versions is variable. An elaborate section, which varies from 2.2 mm of the head to 2/1.8mm in the thinnest point, makes it possible to save the very important grams without affecting performance.
REINFORCED FREEHUB SYSTEM
The drastic increase of power and jerks, due to the intervention of the motor, made it necessary to use a freewheel body with tempered steel dedicated gears, which are able to withstand a breaking tension by 30% greater. The laboratory analysis observed the behaviour of the individual ratchets on cycles greater than one billion of uses: the carburised steel ensures an estimated lifetime that is 4 times longer compared to the Ergal model used for the non-E-Mtb models.
