Five Ten Trailcross GORE-TEX® - MTB Shoes
No matter under what conditions. No matter the terrain. The adidas Five Ten mountain bike shoe offers you the lightness and cushioning of a trail running shoe and is perfect for exploring even the most remote trails. The waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX membrane keeps your feet comfortably dry on wet surfaces. The Stealth® Phantom rubber outsole guarantees you optimal grip on the pedals. The neoprene upper provides additional protection from mud and small stones. You find your way.
Having already tested the Trailcross Mid, I couldn't wait to try the Trailcross GORE-TEX® – and not just because I had a good point of comparison. The biggest differences between the two shoe models are the waterproof GORE-TEX® membrane on the one hand and the shaft on the other. While the Mid Pro features a D3O pad to protect the ankle, the GORE-TEX® version comes with a neoprene upper that is fastened with a Velcro strap. This means that the shoe feels a bit tight when you put it on, but this ensures that no mud or water can get in. The shoe doesn't have a great protective effect on the ankle, but it still gives you a safe feeling when you touch the crank. After several muddy and rainy test rides, my feet have always stayed dry so far. Crossing deep puddles (3-5 cm) was also no problem. The GORE-TEX® version fits exactly like the Mid Pro or the Freerider Pro; my size is 44 2/3 for all models.

Regarding sizing. I usually wear 44, measured my foot with a ruler and went for 46. It is big, but not too big, feet move a bit inside, have plenty of space on toes, with slight touch here and there (with a very thin sock). I think it will be perfect with thicker sock during winter and a sports sock during regular wet rides. Did a couple of shorter and longer 50-60km rides in mixed conditions. In +10-15 feet do get a bit moist from the inside from sweat. It's too worm, however, feet are always clean from any debris. No stones, no sand, nothing. I found them to dry relatively long, considering they were never completely wet. I will need, most likely, to get some other, lighter shoe for summer riding. One thing for sure, they look much better on the foot than Etnies WR (which I returned because of size issues).

Indeed you need to pick 1/2 a size larger than usual, which I did. They are warm in the mid season, not tried below 10° yet. Very comfortable. They are also waterproof... to a certain point; if you wash them directly with a water jet (not karsher) your feet will get wet. Other winter bike shoes out there are fully waterproof.

Sprunggelenk würde an Beweglichkeit verlieren.
