The best/most accurate chain checking tool for max. 0.5% elongation, which is the maximum recommended for 11 and 12 speed cassettes. For 10 speed cassettess, I have seen various recommendations, max. 0.5% is on the safe side, but max 0.75% is mentioned by Park Tool. Zero Friction Cycling made a review of many chain checker tools on 3 Feb 2024 (see Youtube), and this tool came out as one of the few ones that measure accurately. This is because it has a insert-two-pins system on on the 'starting side'. This tool can measure only 0.5% elongation, which is good for 11- and 12.speed chains. Park Tool recommends the following: 11-12 Speed: max 0.5%, 10-speed or less freewheel: max 0.75%, Single speed (1-speed): max 1%. The accurate tool is the Park Tool CC-4 (only this one), which can measure 0.5%, 0.75% (but not 1%). Also Pedro's chain checker was accurate. If you want to measure 1% for single speed, only the KMC Digital was accurate. Don't forget to measure the chain elongation at 2-3 places, as the chain elongation is not the same everywhere on the chain.
Es tut, was es soll. Klein und fein. Eine gute Alternative zum Messschieber.
